Vinod Payyanur was born in Payyanur, Kannur district, Kerala. He studied art at Malayalam Kala Gramam New-Mahe and Geetanjali School of Arts. Professionally, he is a school teacher. He has exhibited his paintings at the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Art Gallery in Payyanur and the Space Art Gallery in Kannur. He participated in the National Exhibition organized by the Fusion Art Foundation in Chennai in 2024.

He has also participated in several painting camps and group exhibitions organized by the Kerala Chithrakala Parishath and the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi.

He was formerly the Kannur District Secretary of the Kerala Chithrakala Parishath and is now the State Joint Secretary.
